A simple checklist for comparing brokers
Five dimensions to compare before you open an account.
Choosing a broker is less about finding the “best” name and more about fit. Use this checklist when you compare two or more platforms.
| Dimension | Questions to ask |
|---|---|
| Markets | Which exchanges and asset classes are supported? |
| Fees | Commissions, FX spreads, and any monthly or inactivity fees? |
| Platform | Mobile, desktop, or API — does it match how you trade? |
| Funding | Deposit and withdrawal methods, speed, and limits? |
| Safety | Regulation, insurance or investor protection schemes? |
Narrow the list first
Filter by must-haves (for example US stocks only, or a specific market). Then compare the remaining candidates on fees and UX.
Keep notes
A short table of your own beats memorizing marketing pages. Update it when pricing changes.
